‘Hill's Angels’ P-38 of Lt. Allen Hill, United States Army Air Force 8th Fighter Group. A formidable fighter and interceptor, also used for dive & level bombing, and ground strafing. Nicknamed ‘fork-tailed devil’ by the Germans and ‘two planes, one pilot’ by the Japanese. Its greatest virtues were long range, heavy payload, high speed, fast climb, and concentrated firepower. Armament included 1 x 20mm cannon and 4 x 12.7mm machine guns all clustered in the nose. Approx. 16.5cm x 21.5cm (6.5" x 8.5"). Rotating props. Includes plastic display stand
