Macchi C.205 of Regia Aeronautica 1A Squadriglia, Italy, 1943. The Macchi C.205 (also known as MC.205, 'MC' standing for 'Macchi Castoldi') Veltro was an Italian fighter built by the Aeronautica Macchi. Used as a high-speed interceptor with ground attack capability, the Veltro (Grey Hound) was powered by the same Daimler-Benz DB 605 engine as the Bf 109. It was fast and maneuverable, with heavy firepower. Widely regarded as the best Italian aircraft of World War II, it proved to be extremely effective against Allied bombers and more than capable of taking on the best Allied fighters. Diecast metal construction with some plastic parts. Rotating propeller (which needs to be fitted) and comes with a display stand. Landing gear can be shown up or down. Really nice “camo” livery. Approx. 11.5cm x 14.5cm (4.5” x 5.75").
