Messerschmitt Bf 109E-7/B Blue H Triangle, II./Schlachtgeschwader 1, Stalingrad. Luftwaffe Ground Support Jabo, Winter 1942/43. The ‘E or Emil’ variant of the Bf 109 was the second most produced version of the fighter and the one which served extensively throughout the Battle of Britain and German invasion of the Soviet Union. During the battle for Stalingrad, late 1942/early 1943, a number of Bf 109E’s were adapted for close air support, acting like high speed dive bombers to support ground troops in the savage fighting. These ground attack Messerschmitts proved incredibly effective. Diecast model with rotating prop and pilot figure. Comes with a display stand, which allows the landing gear to be shown up or down. Approx. 12cm x 13.5cm (4.75” x 5.25”).
