Mitsubishi Heavy Industries A6M2 Zero single-seat long range fighter, Model 11. Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service, 12th Kokutai, China. Designated as the Mitsubishi Navy Type 0 Carrier Fighter, or A6M Rei-sen. Usually referred to by its pilots as the "Reisen" (zero fighter), "0" being the last digit of the Imperial year 2600 (1940) when it entered service. The Allied reporting name was "Zeke", although the name "Zero" was later adopted by the Allies as well. Diecast metal model. Fixed cockpit canopy, no pilot figure. Some assembly required (prop, antennas, and landing gear). Landing gear can be shown up or down, and a display stand is included. This is a heavy model for its size, approx. 12cm x 16.5cm (4.75" x 6.5"). It comes from a budget range and is packaged in a blister pack.
