Spitfire Vb, RF-D/EP594, 303 Sqn., RAF, Lt. Jan Zumbach, Aug/Sept 1942. The first Spitfire Mk V was produced in January 1941, remained the RAF fighter through the summer of 1942 and saw several variants with bigger engines, new wing types and more armament. There were 20,351 Mk V variants in total. Jan Zumbach was assigned to RAF 303 Squadron (Poland) and scored 8 victories during the BoB. While with the 303 Sqn Zumbach flew three Spitfire Vb's, all had Donald Duck artworkd on the engine cowling. He was Squadron Leader from May 1942 until November 1943. Diecast metal model with some plastic parts. Approx. 18.5cm x 23.5cm (7.25" x 9.25"). Realistic panel lines, antennas, access panels and surface details. Opening canopy and rotating prop. Landing gear can be posed up or down. Comes with a display stand.
