Blackburn Buccaneer S.Mk 2B, RAF No. 237 OCU. XW533 was delivered to the RAF in 1971 then, after a 20 year career, prepared for Operation "Granby" in the Persian Gulf. This included a Desert 'ARTF' (Alkali Removable Temporary Finish) livery change and assignment of code 'A'. The "Miss Jolly Roger" Nose Art was added during the campaign. This low-level subsonic attack aircraft built for carrier-based operations, was rushed into the Gulf War to improve precision bombing through its laser target marking capability.
