YF-23 “Gray Ghost” PAV-2. Northrop/McDonnell Douglas single seat, twin engine, stealth fighter prototype developed for the US Air Force Advanced Tactical Fighter (ATF) Program. Proposed as a successor to the F-15 Eagle, the YF-23 was praised for its speed, stealth, and supercruise capability. The program ultimately selected the YF-22, which became the F-22 Raptor. The YF-23 design emphasized extreme low observability and high-speed performance, incorporating a blended wing body, S-duct intakes, and V-tails. Although stealthier and faster, the YF-23 was deemed less agile than its competitor. “Gray Ghost” PAV-2 s/n 87-0801 is currently on display at California's Western Museum of Flight. Diecast metal with some plastic parts. Opening canopy, pilot figure, AIM-120 and AIM-9 missiles. Comes with a display stand. Landing gear can be displayed up or down. Approx. 29cm x 18cm (11.5” x 7”)
