The 2004 running of the Great Race was won by Greg Murphy and Rick Kelly, driving the Kmart Racing Team Holden VY Commodore. The victory marked Murphy’s fourth Bathurst win and Kelly’s second, as well as their second win in a row as a driver pairing. It also marked Holden's sixth consecutive win at Bathurst.
