McDonnell Douglas Phantom F-4G "Wild Weasel" 69-0247, 52nd Tactical Fighter Wing, Spangdahlem NATO Air Base, Germany. Two-seat, twin engine, all-weather long-range supersonic jet interceptor and fighter-bomber. F-4's were used extensively by the US in the Vietnam war. Roles included ground attack, air superiority fighter, and aerial reconnaissance. Wild Weasel is the code name for aircraft equipped with anti-radiation missiles, used to destroy enemy radar and SAM installations. A Wild Weasel pilot baits an enemy into targeting them with their radar, then traces those radar signals back to their source. Thus allowing the Weasel or its allies to target and destroy the enemy facility. Highly detailed diecast with some plastic parts. Opening forward and rear canopies which reveal the cockpit detail. Removable pilot figures, and selectable ordnance. Landing gear can be configured up or down. Approx. 26cm x 16.5cm (10.25" x 6.5"). Comes with a display stand.
