Lotus Elite Race Car. The Elite used fibreglass monocoque construction, with a load-bearing body (i.e. no actual chassis). Steel sub-frames, attached to the monocoque, supported the engine, suspension, doors, roll-cage, etc. It's true "Sports Car" shape gave it a very low drag coefficient of 0.29. The Elite raced in various GT Championships around the world, as well as Le Mans and the Nurburgring. It won its class six times at the Le Mans 24 hour, as well as two Index of Thermal Efficiency wins. Model has opening doors, bonnet, and boot. Approx. 25cm x 7.5cm x 6.5cm (8" x 3" x 2.5"). Comes mounted on a removable plinth.
