1/72 1941 RAF Blenheim (AA38409)

1/72 1941 RAF Blenheim
Bristol Blenheim Mk.IV light bomber R3843/WV-F, ‘Operation Leg’ August 1941. WWII fighter pilot Douglas Bader was somewhat inconvenienced when he bailed out of a stricken Spitfire, but, had to leave one of his prosthetic legs "stuck" in the cockpit. The RAF planned a parachute drop of a new leg as part of a scheduled bombing raid. On 19th August 1941, six Blenheim Mk.IVs launched an attack against the Gosnay power station, with Blenheim R3843 also carrying Bader’s new leg. The wooden box containing the prosthetic limb was unceremoniously dropped over the target area, before all six bombers turned for home, their bombs unreleased due to heavy cloud over the target area. Limited Edition of 1000 pieces.
